Sixth grade is an exciting and busy time! Our goal, along with preparing students to be successful academically, is to also set the foundation of student accountability and to instill a sense of responsibility for your student's own education.
Materials:
Students should bring the necessary materials from their supply list to English Language Arts class every day! Every day, students are expected, to have their homework assignments, and any signed assessments that need to be returned.
Assignments:
Teachers will update daily assignments on the Google Calendar daily. It is the student's responsibility to copy their homework during Tiger Den time.
Late/Makeup Work:
As stated by Wake County Board Policy 6000 R&P, it is the student's responsibility to secure all make-up work from the teacher.
✔ Assignments given while absent – any work that is missed while a student is out must be turned in within 5 days of the student returning to school.
✔ Failure to submit assignments – if a student simply fails to turn in an assignment, this falls under incomplete work, and the student will have 3 days to turn in the assignment for a late grade per teacher's classroom policy for late work (students lose 5 points per day).
✔ Students that score less than 79% on assessments will be allowed to make test corrections for partial credit back.
River Bend Expectations:
R- Responsible
B- Being Respectful
M- Making Informed Choices
S - Seeking Success
Hallway Expectations:
Walk on the right side of the hallway when transitioning from class to class.
Grading System 2018-2019:
A: 90 - 100
B: 80 - 89
C: 70 - 79
